    Best gift I got this year was a gift certificate to Kiva, a person-to-person micro-lending site. My ex gave me $25 to invest in a woman who operates her own clothing store in Peru. I love it. :)

    Oh no! I'm out of booze and I've gone through all of my movies. By the way "Up" was a real downer. I looked like Bridget Jones at the beginning of the movie. Sobbing into my wine glass.

    The Xbox has been resting for about 5 hours. The last time I played, I got the red lights again (for hardware failure), jimmied the cord a bit, and then it played fine.

    I've decided I will play this thing until it breaks for good. I spent $200, and now actually have games to play, and NOW it wants to be finicky? Bish plz.

    @Blodwynn: The Xboxes have hard drive problems, don't they? That's frustrating, though -- since you just bought some games! Maybe it just needs to cool down. What are you playing? I have a PS3, but I haven't really invested in too many games yet.

    @HarpMadness: I've got Rock Band and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and I got Rock band 2, Bioshock and Arkham Asylum for Christmas. Today was a rock band day, tomorrow.....BATMAN. ^.^

    I haven't actually bought many games in the year I've had it. When I bought it, I was able to purchase M rated games. Now I am......but I have no photo ID. .< Plus Money. :/

    @queenfrostine16: Ugh, I feel so sorry for his poor wife. They have young twins, right? Not that it helps, but I seriously can't imagine what she was thinking marrying him right on the heels of his very public issues with drugs, gambling, sex addiction, prostitutes, etc. As I recall, Denise Richards presented evidence in court that he had done things like watching porn in front of their toddlers. What a creep he is - how can be possibly be related to Jed Bartlett?

    Holy cow everyone, my mother-in-law just announced that she's moving to California. Seeing as how we live in Wisconsin, that's a pretty big freakin' deal.
    I'm totally psyched, she'll be living with her sister and we won't have to worry about her so much -- she's been jobless for over a year now.

    What is your favorite gin-based cocktail? I have an almost-full bottle of gin and I'm already sick of G&Ts and martinis. And I have a solid week of drinking to go! I've been drinking Bee's Knees today (gin, honey, lemon juice), which is yummy, but I'm ready for something new.

    So after my smarting ego due to a recent rejection I got hit on and asked out today and I was thinking "hurrah my luck has changed" I wasn't into him though so I replied to his invitation for tea "I don't think so, but I really appreciate the offer." And then he got all angry and spat at me "and you wonder why you're single." For fuck sake, I could not have been more polite. Some of us at least have the decency to hate OURSELVES not insult others when we get rejected.

    Hope everyone is having a great day!

    I am in a bit of a funk myself but I'm hoping it will lift. I am sitting in front of a roaring fire, and I have no annoying relatives coming over tonight, so I'm keeping everything in perspective.

    My mom made the one kind of dessert she knows I will not eat, and didn't tell me so I didn't have a chance to make something myself. Such a small stupid thing, but by god, I'd like to eat something yummy and sweet after dinner tonight, and now there is nothing.

    Also, the after Christmas sale commercials are pissing me off - Hurry hurry hurry to buy stuff before Christmas, and hurry hurry hurry to buy stuff after Christmas!!! Enough already.

    I got Mr. Fae "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" and it is BRILLIANT. The game psychologically profiles you, and changes according to what you do, and how you answer questions. Just to test, we of course both set up games, and have been playing through him first (his Christmas present) then me. In his game the police officer looks kind of slutty, a lot of cleavage, blond hair, in mine she's a brunette and looks like a normal cop, all covered up. Then there's the little subplot stories, his are all sinister and borderline murder, mine are all accidents, and very very sad. (Minor Spoiler Warning: In my game a little girl runs into a place where her brother is trapped and she watches him drown, in his, she put him there.)

    Why does my mother always insist on getting me underwear for Christmas? Sigh.

    Anyway, Merry Christmas. If we can be ungrateful little wenches for a moment, what was the worst gift you got? And what was the best?

    this year, I got some strange crafty gilded scroll thingie with a carousel horse painted on it.

    I'm 40 years old. I don't know what to do with this save for dropping it off at the local thrift store like I've done with most everything else she's given me.

    This is the reason my mother can NEVER visit me - she'll wonder where all her gifts are and i'll feel awful.

    My mother is the same type of woman who makes a little "doll" out of those cone shaped air fresheners
    and tells me to put it on the back of the toilet "it'll make your bathroom smell great and people won't know why" oh, mother, yes, yes they WILL know why.

    I think she's learning. I recieved NO tacky Xmas decorations this year, Thank God. I've spent the last ten years dropping broad hints about how I have my OWN home, and how I like to decorate it myself.

    @eatsshootsleaves: BEST: George Foreman Grill! I love it and use it all the time.

    WORST: Once an ex-boyfriend bought me a ticket to a college bowl game...I love college football, but this was between his alma mater and a school I didn't care about, on New Year's Day, 2008.

    I'd said a couple months before I was going to skip the game and he was like OK. (The tickets were expensive, I didn't really want to drive 13 hours each way to Florida and back to sleep on some dude's apartment floor, and I wanted to spend my New Year's Eve with my roommates, who were doing some really fun stuff!) Ex-BF's friends were going to the game, so it wasn't like he didn't have anyone to hang with.

    So he bought me the ticket and I felt like I had to go, I guess. And I did. The only bright spot was seeing Ex-BF's school blow a 14-point lead and lose in the last 3 minutes of the game. The whole thing just struck me as really inconsiderate--I'd made plans to hang with my friends! He knew it!

    @eatsshootsleaves: My best/worst gift is money. It's great to get to decide what to do with it, but since I have rent and groceries and utilities and textbooks to pay for, this basically means that I won't buy anything fun or frivolous (which is what I like about Christmas, generally). So, pros and cons. Not that you can really complain about cash.
